WEU Takes First Steps into the Post Office

| W.E.U Admin | Improving Working Lives

On Wednesday 21st January 2015, the Workers of England Union took its first steps into the Post Office when one of our members required representation. Learn more about our first steps into the Post Office.

Challenging the Status Quo at the Disciplinary Hearing

To say the Communications Workers Union (C.W.U.) wasn’t pleased to see us enter their domain is an understatement. At the disciplinary hearing, the Manager was defensive and selective in their statements, clearly unfamiliar with basic employment rights to representation. They repeatedly left the room to seek advice on representation procedures.

Questioned for Seeking External Support

During the hearing, our member was asked, “Why did you go to an outside union rep?” The Manager did not appreciate the reply: “I didn’t feel I was being represented properly.”

Expanding Our Representation to Post Office Employees

The Workers of England Union represents people across all sectors of industry. We are now proudly supporting Post Office employees, and this case demonstrates our ability to handle complex employment-related issues. The C.W.U. is clearly concerned about our effectiveness in securing fair representation for workers.
